Gerald R. Kookson III was usually a
gink with a golden touch. The sort that could march down the road to hell and
find it paved with glory. But he liked to keep a low profile. It was just easier
that way. He didn't drive a car too big, never carried more than one gun, and had
an eye for a more subtle class of kitten, -soft and smooth on the outside, but hard-boiled
and loaded with sin just under the surface. Nora Blaine, on the other hand, was about as low profile as a tarantula on a slice of angel food, - a blonde to make a bishop kick a hole in a stained glass window.
